The Su-35 made its 100th flight

The Su-35 multi-role super-maneuverable fighter made its 100th flight during which they conducted final tests of the flight control system.
In February 2008 “Sukhoi Company” started Su-35 flight tests. The Su-35 fighter made its first flight at the airfield of Flight Scientific Research Institute named after Gromov in Zhukovsky near Moscow. The second aircraft took the air in October in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. For a year they finished the prototype’s static tests in achieving limited modes while testing and approving the aircraft flight performance. During tests they confirmed stability characteristics, worked out the integrated control system, and other aircraft systems and navigation equipment.
In the second quarter of 2009 one more aircraft is planned to join in and bring the number of flights up to 150-160 on three fighters. It is supposed to finish static tests and start the supermaneuverability mode testing.
The Su-35 testing program progress confirms the previously announced terms of the fighters batch deliveries to Russian and foreign customers scheduled on 2011.
The Su-35 fighters entering the Russian AF service will favor this country’s defense potential and permits “Sukhoi Company” to maintain its competitiveness in the world market until the 5th generation aviation systems enter the market. The Su-35s are planned for delivery to some countries of Southeast Asia, Africa, Middle East, and South America.
Su-35 is a profound modernized multi-role super-maneuverable fighter of “4++”- generation. At Su-35 development a lot of 5th-generation-fighter technologies were used that put Su-35 ahead of fighters under development and production in the world. The new fighter boasts of the up-to-date avionics based on digital information-management system integrating onboard equipment and systems, a new phased array radar providing long ranges of aerial targets detection with the increased number of simultaneously tracked and attacked targets; new TVC-engines with enhanced thrust.
